Season Management

Season Management
Plan the season without rebuilding the club
Lineage XI keeps each football season organised while retaining the people, structure and history your club has already built. Teams, squads, competitions, registrations and eligibility stay connected to the correct season, with previous years retained for reference rather than recreated from scratch.
- Create a new football season and set the current season
- Build season-specific teams, squads and competition assignments
- Keep registrations and eligibility tied to the correct season
- Move players through age groups as they progress
- Move coaches between teams without losing their club history
- Roll the club forward while preserving previous seasons and historical records
Season Centre
Season Centre gives administrators a guided view of the football season from opening preparations through to close and rollover. It brings the important checks together so you can see what is ready, what needs attention and where to act next.
- Open: prepare the football structure, squads, registrations, eligibility and season readiness
- Run: keep sight of fixtures, training, player development, staffing and the football activity happening throughout the season
- Close and roll forward: identify outstanding work before season close, then move teams, players and records into the next season in a controlled way
Because Season Centre works from the records already held in Lineage XI, clubs get a clear operational overview without creating duplicate season data. Actions take administrators back to the relevant workflow, access remains role-aware, and the club's football history stays intact from year to year.
Age Groups, Teams and Squads
+
Age Groups, Teams and Squads
Structure the football side the way your club actually works
Lineage XI keeps age groups, teams and squads connected without forcing every club into the same structure. An age group can contain one or more teams, and each team can carry its allocated division where the competition structure requires one.
- Create and manage age groups for each season
- Group multiple teams under the correct age group
- Record each team's allocated division where applicable
- Assign age-group leads and coaching responsibility
- See fixtures and calendar activity at age-group or team level
- Retain the structure from season to season without losing history
This means a club can keep one age group together while still managing several teams within it, each with its own competition or division allocation. Division names and allocations come from the club's actual league or competition setup rather than being predefined by Lineage XI.
Team Profiles
Each team has its own operational record while remaining connected to the wider age group and club.
- Team name and season
- Age group
- Allocated division where applicable
- Competition assignments
- Squad and coaches
- Fixtures and results
- Training and availability
- Team communications and calendar
- Historic team information
Squad Management
Keep the current playing group clear while retaining the movement and history behind it.
- Current squad and squad numbers
- Registration and membership status
- Player movement between teams
- Age-group progression
- Player assignment history
- Team history
- Coach visibility of relevant squad information
Player Management
+
Player Management
One player record that follows them through the club
Lineage XI keeps the player's current football information and their longer-term club history together. Coaches can work from the information relevant to the current team and season without losing the journey that came before it.
Player Profile
- Player name and preferred name
- Profile photograph
- Current team and age group
- Shirt number
- Current and previous seasons
- Parent and guardian relationships
- Availability and fixture involvement
- Training involvement
- Development information
- Registration and eligibility status
- Relevant consent information
Football History and Continuity
When a player moves team, progresses through an age group or starts a new season, Lineage XI retains the football history behind them rather than starting the record again.
- Previous teams and seasons
- Previous coaches
- Previous squad numbers
- Fixture history
- Training participation
- Development history
- Team movement and age-group progression
- Eligibility and registration history
This gives the next coach appropriate football context and preserves a clearer club record of the player's progression over time.
Awards and Recognition
Recognition can stay with the player's football history instead of disappearing at the end of a match, training session or season.
- Coach-selected Player of the Match
- Parents' Player of the Match where the club enables parent voting
- Training acknowledgements such as Training Standout, Training Effort or Training Improvement
- Tournament medals and participation recognition
- Development and appearance milestones
- Service recognition and season awards
- Visibility controls so recognition can remain private, member-visible or public where appropriate
Because awards are retained as part of the player record, clubs can build a genuine recognition history across fixtures, training, events and seasons.
Player Registration and Eligibility
+
Player Registration and Eligibility
Know who is ready to play before you pick the team
Lineage XI brings registration and eligibility into the football workflow so coaches and administrators can see whether a player is ready for the season, the competition and the next fixture before selection becomes a matchday problem.
Player Registration
- Track registration by season and team
- Record league and competition registration status
- Capture parent or carer consent and player consent where appropriate
- Track identification checks and completion requirements
- See pending registrations and players currently limited to training
- Retain previous registration history for reference
Eligibility
- See whether a player is eligible, ineligible or still pending
- Track age-group, team and competition eligibility
- Record registration-related eligibility requirements
- Record approved dispensations or exceptions where applicable
- Use effective and expiry dates for time-limited eligibility
- Record the reason where a player cannot currently play
- Retain eligibility history across the player's time with the club
Matchday Checks
Eligibility follows the player into squad selection rather than sitting separately in an administration record.
- Check eligibility while selecting the matchday squad
- Warn coaches when a selected player has an outstanding issue
- Prevent selection where the club's configured rules require it
- Surface players who need registration or eligibility action
- Highlight missing requirements and approaching expiry dates
- Support season revalidation when a new football year begins
The result is a clearer handover between club administration and coaching staff, with fewer last-minute surprises over whether a selected player can take part.
Fixtures
+
Fixtures
Keep every fixture connected to the football around it
Fixtures sit at the centre of the football schedule in Lineage XI. Each match brings together the team, opposition, venue, competition, officials, staff, result and matchday activity so clubs do not have to maintain the same information in several places.
Fixture Management
- Create and edit fixtures
- Set date, kick-off time and home, away or neutral status
- Record the venue and pitch where configured
- Link the opposition, team, competition and division
- Track fixture status and match information
- Keep the fixture associated with the correct season
- Control what fixture information is shared with members
Competitive and Friendly Records
Lineage XI distinguishes competitive and friendly football so reporting reflects the type of match rather than relying on the competition name alone.
- Competitive fixtures contribute to competitive team and player reporting
- Friendly fixtures remain part of the club's football history without distorting competitive headline statistics
- Combined views can show all football where useful
- Standalone fixtures can be classified appropriately by the club
Match Officials
Record the people appointed to officiate each fixture and reuse known officials when they return.
- Referee
- Assistant referee
- Fourth official
- Other or club-defined official roles
- Select suitable club people where appropriate
- Reuse previously recorded external officials
- Add a new external official when required
Private contact or identifying information remains separate from the member-facing fixture view.
Who Took the Team
Season-long team staff show the normal coaching setup. Fixture staff records show who actually delivered a particular match, including cover arrangements.
- Lead Coach
- Assistant Coach
- Team Manager
- Goalkeeping Coach
- First Aider
- Other club-defined fixture roles
- Copy the normal team staff into a fixture
- Assign another active staff member as cover for that match
- Retain who coached the team without changing the normal season-long staffing record
Club Fixture Overview
- Upcoming and recent fixtures
- Fixtures by team, age group or competition
- Team and club-wide schedules
- Calendar view
- Assigned referee and fixture coach at a glance where available
Match Status and Results
- Scheduled, in progress where supported, completed, postponed or cancelled
- Full-time score and match outcome
- Team and season result history
- Match timeline and player awards
- Attendance
- Officials and fixture-specific coaching staff retained with the historical match record
Matchday Management
+
Matchday Management
Run matchday from one connected fixture
Matchday brings together the information coaches need before, during and after the game. Availability, eligibility, squad selection, shape, staff, officials, match events, awards and the final result stay connected to the fixture while private coaching information remains controlled.
Matchday Overview
- Match details, opposition, venue, competition and kick-off
- Player availability and actual attendance
- Eligibility checks before selection
- Fixture officials and the staff taking the team
- Match notes, result and post-match information
- Fixture history retained after the game
Build the Matchday Squad
Coaches can prepare and update the squad directly from Matchday.
- Starters, substitutes, reserves and unavailable players
- Positions and detailed playing roles
- Shirt numbers
- Captain and goalkeeper designation
- Planned substitutions and playing-time changes
- Actual minutes after the match
- Validation where planned timings conflict
- Change history for significant squad updates
Starting Shape
Arrange the starting team visually on the pitch and save the shape with the fixture.
- Drag players with a mouse or touch device
- Keyboard movement for accessible positioning
- Arrange from player positions as a useful starting point
- Handle players sharing similar positions without stacking them together
- Save the agreed starting shape for the fixture
Match Plan and Playing-Time Checks
- Prepare the plan as Draft, Ready or Locked
- Set periods and period duration where the format requires them
- Check planned match duration against configured age-group limits
- Flag plans that exceed the permitted playing format
- Keep shared objectives, rotation and substitution information separate from private coach notes and opposition analysis
Timeline and Matchday Awards
- Record match events through the game
- Share an appropriate match timeline with members
- Select the coach's Player of the Match directly from the completed fixture
- Support joint coach-selected Player of the Match recognition where appropriate
- Run the separate Parents' Player of the Match vote where the club has enabled it
- Retain matchday awards in the player's wider recognition history
Choose What Members Can See
Coaches control how much matchday information is shared with the member portal.
- Hidden
- Selected squad
- Selected squad and starting shape
- Starting shape and shared match plan
Publishing the selected squad does not automatically reveal the starting XI, and private coaching notes or opposition analysis are not exposed through the member view.
Player Availability
+
Player Availability
Know who is available without chasing message-group replies
Lineage XI gives players and families a clear place to respond to availability requests, while coaches get a team-wide view of who is available, unavailable or still to respond.
- Send availability requests for fixtures and training
- Record Available, Unavailable or Pending response
- Allow parent or guardian responses where appropriate
- See the whole team's availability in one view
- Keep responses linked to the correct fixture or training session
- Give coaches visibility of the responses relevant to their team
- Highlight players who have not yet responded
Availability then feeds naturally into matchday planning and squad selection, reducing the need to collect and reconcile separate polls in messaging groups.
Parents' Player of the Match
+
Parents' Player of the Match
Coach and parent recognition can sit side by side
Lineage XI supports the normal coach-selected Player of the Match and an optional Parents' Player of the Match for the same fixture. They are separate awards: the parent vote adds family engagement without replacing or overriding the coach's football decision.
Parents' Player of the Match
Where the club enables parent voting, the poll is built around the people who were actually involved in the fixture.
- Candidate players come from the players recorded as taking part
- Eligible attending parents or guardians form the voting group
- One eligible login receives one ballot
- Votes remain secret while the poll is open
- Coaches can see turnout without seeing live candidate totals or individual votes
- Parents can update their vote while the poll remains open
Inclusive Voting Without Losing Ballot Integrity
If an eligible attending parent or guardian cannot use the portal, an authorised coach can record an assisted vote on their behalf.
- The guardian is deliberately selected before an assisted vote is recorded
- The selected player remains protected from coaching users while voting is open
- The assisted action and reason can be audited without exposing the vote itself
- A parent can later cast their own portal vote while the poll is still open
Close the Vote and Record the Award
- Results become available to authorised coaches after the poll closes
- An outright leader can be confirmed as the winner
- A tie can be resolved between the tied leaders
- The final Parents' Player of the Match is added to the player's normal recognition history
The result is an optional family-engagement feature with clear voting controls, while the coach's own Player of the Match remains a separate football award.
Competitions and Divisions
+
Competitions and Divisions
Keep leagues, cups and divisions connected to the right teams
Lineage XI gives clubs one place to organise the competitions their teams take part in. League, cup, division and tournament records stay connected to the correct season, age group, team, fixtures and opposition.
- Create and maintain competition records
- Record leagues, cups, divisions and tournaments
- Associate competitions with the correct season
- Allocate teams to their applicable divisions
- Connect competitions to age groups where relevant
- Keep fixtures and opponents linked to the competition they belong to
- Retain competition history from season to season
Division names and structures are defined by the club's actual league or competition setup. Lineage XI does not assume that every club, league or age group uses the same format.
Opponent Management
+
Opponent Management
Build useful opposition history without building profiles of children
Lineage XI lets clubs keep a reusable record of the opposition they meet across leagues, cups, friendlies and tournaments. Coaches can see previous encounters and useful football context without repeatedly recreating the same club or team information.
Opponent Profiles
- Opponent club and team
- Relevant age group
- Competition relationships
- Venue information
- Previous fixtures and results
- Historical encounters with your teams
Football Notes and Previous Encounters
Coaches can retain appropriate football observations from previous meetings where they are genuinely useful for preparation.
- Previous match history
- Team-level observations
- Playing characteristics and tactical notes
- General coaching observations
- Shirt-number-based notes where a temporary match reference is useful
The focus remains on the opposition team and football context. Lineage XI is not intended to create unnecessary personal profiles of opposition children or retain personal information that the club does not need.
Training Management
+
Training Management
Plan, deliver and remember the work done on the training ground
Training Management keeps sessions, attendance, coaching resources and player recognition together so coaches can prepare properly and the club retains a useful record of what was delivered.
Training Sessions
- Date, time and location
- Team and coaching staff
- Player availability and attendance
- Session information and coaching focus
- Relevant member-facing information where the club chooses to share it
Training Recognition
Positive contribution can be recognised directly from the session and retained in the player's wider football history.
- Training Standout
- Training Effort
- Training Improvement
- Other active recognition types configured by the club
- Internal or member-visible recognition depending on the club's choice
Reusable Drill Library
Coaches can build a shared library of exercises instead of recreating session material every week.
- Drill descriptions and coaching instructions
- Categories and reusable coaching resources
- Diagrams and visual material where available
- Privately hosted video content
- Coach-accessible resources across the club
Home Practice
A coaching drill can be deliberately prepared for player or family use without exposing the coach-only delivery notes behind it.
- Mark a drill as suitable for home practice
- Provide a member-friendly summary and instructions
- Show equipment requirements
- Set whether it can be completed solo or with a parent, friend or partner
- Add appropriate safety or supervision guidance
- Include suitable diagrams or media
- Recommend home-practice drills from a player's published Development Snapshot
The member-facing version stays separate from private coaching points, and historic recommendations remain connected to the development review they were used with.
Private Training Video
Clubs can use privately hosted coaching material without having to publish training content on public video platforms.
Coaching and Player Development
+
Coaching and Player Development
Support player development without exposing the coach's private working notes
Lineage XI separates the detailed coaching record from the simpler development information deliberately shared with the player and family. Coaches can assess, review and plan development in depth while choosing what is appropriate to publish.
Private Coaching Record
- Player observations and private coaching notes
- Repeatable skill assessments
- Strengths and areas for development
- Per-skill notes and configurable internal ratings
- Previous coaching context
- Season-to-season development continuity
- Appropriate football handover information when a player changes coach or team
Private coaching notes stay private unless the coach deliberately creates member-facing feedback from them.
Published Development Snapshot
Coaches can publish a simpler family-facing review using six easy-to-understand headline areas:
- Pace
- Shooting
- Passing
- Dribbling and Ball Control
- Defending
- Physical
The published snapshot can include ratings, strengths, focus areas, coach feedback and a next-review date, with previous snapshots retained as the player's development history.
- Half-star rating steps
- Calculated overall development rating
- Football-card style presentation
- Draft before publication
- Explicit publication to the player or family
- Historic published reviews retained
- Optional programme template and review type
- Outfield or goalkeeper development track where relevant
- Optional family acknowledgement
Lineage XI can suggest headline ratings from the latest private assessment, but the coach remains in control and private notes are not copied into the published review.
Focused Development Sessions
For players who need more individual attention, coaches can run focused sessions separately from ordinary team training.
- Work with one or two players at a time
- Use repeatable development tests
- Link tests to existing training drills where useful
- Measure time, count, distance, percentage, score or rating
- Compare previous and current results
- Record private coach observations against results
- Retain completed sessions as development evidence
- Link relevant evidence into a later published Development Snapshot
Raw test results and private observations remain coach-facing unless suitable information is deliberately included in a published review.
Development Programmes
Clubs can create reusable development programmes by age group and player track, helping coaches apply a consistent approach without forcing every player through exactly the same plan.
- All-player, outfield and goalkeeper programmes
- Recurring review cadence
- Priority development skills
- Age-group guidance
- Repeatable development tests
- Optional family acknowledgement requirement
- Team-level readiness showing overdue, due soon, current or no programme
Progress Over Time
Repeated assessments, focused-session results and published reviews can show how a player's development changes over time.
- Skill trends from repeated assessments
- Development-test history
- Previous and current comparisons
- Family-safe trends from published Development Snapshots
Private assessment history, raw test commentary and coach observations remain internal to the appropriate coaching users.
Development Review Reminders
Review dates can feed into the club's Action Centre so development reviews do not rely on somebody remembering them manually.
- Initial review due
- Review due soon
- Review due
- Review overdue
- Direct route into planning a focused review session
- Programme-based next-review dates where configured
Family Acknowledgement
Where the club requires it, a linked player or family account can confirm that they have seen a specific published Development Snapshot.
The acknowledgement confirms receipt of the published review only. It does not expose private assessments, raw development-test commentary or internal coach observations.
By retaining development evidence as players move through teams, age groups and seasons, Lineage XI helps preserve football knowledge that might otherwise disappear when coaching responsibilities change.
Tournament Management
+
Tournament Management
Bring tournament activity into the same football record
The planned Tournament Management area is intended to help clubs organise the football, people and operational checks around tournaments without creating a separate disconnected system.
For Clubs Attending Tournaments
- Record the tournament, date, venue and age group
- Track the teams attending
- Record fixtures, pitches and kick-off times
- Keep tournament matches connected to the normal team and player history
- Check player eligibility and squad readiness
- Record the coaches and staff responsible for the team
For Clubs Organising Tournaments
Where a club is running its own event, the planned capability can extend into the wider tournament structure and operational requirements.
- Teams, groups and match schedules
- Group and knockout stages
- Pitches and venue planning
- Results and standings
- Match officials
- Welfare and medical arrangements
- Safeguarding and staff eligibility checks
- Incident reporting
- Media and photography permissions
- Rules, sanctioning and relevant affiliation checks
The design will respect the fact that tournament formats, safeguarding expectations and age-group rules vary between competitions and governing bodies rather than assuming one structure is suitable for every event.
